Five Traditions to Start at Your Rocky Top Table

Here at Rocky Top, we believe that tables are more than just a place to set your plate down. It's where you gather with friends and family to break bread, share stories and push the pause button on the hustle and bustle of life for awhile. It's the heart of the home. For that reason, we thought we'd share five table traditions we love just in time for the Thanksgiving season. Do you have a family tradition you think should make the list? Let us know and we'll share it with our friends!

1. The Thanksgiving Tablecloth
Dress your beautifully-crafted log table with a simple tablecloth and invite your guests to sign it with permanent markers. For something extra-special, you could hand-embroider the signatures to create an heirloom piece that will be treasured for generations to come.

2. A Thankful Tree
Create a simple center piece for your table out of found branches arranged in a pretty vase. Invite guests to share why they are grateful on paper leaves. Save the leaves in an album or scrapbook so your family can reminisce on their many blessings each year.

3. An Heirloom Table
Instead of decorating with the tradition pumpkins and fall details, create an heirloom table. Display photos of your family and treasured heirlooms down the middle of the table. It's a great conversation starter and will allow you to create many new memories as well!

4. Hidden Meaning
Hide handwritten notes of gratitude in the crescent rolls and take turns breaking the bread to read the notes.

5. Table Games
Instead of rushing off after the dishes are cleared, invite guests to hang around for an after-dinner game night with a coffee and dessert bar.
